This engraving depicts the Greek Mythological tale of Lycomedes and Achilles; in which at the request of the nymph Thetis, Lycomedes conceales Achilles in a female disguise among his daughters; so that Achilles would not die at Troy as prophesied, and is discovered among the daughters.
