La Lumiere du Monde by Francois Boucher Fine Art Xzendor7 Old Masters Reproductions
Painting - Digital Art Reproduction
La Lumière du Monde (The Light of the World) c1750 by French Painter François Boucher (1703 - 1770), who was also an accomplished draughtsman and etcher. He worked in the Rococo Style and is known for his idyllic classical themes, pastoral scenes and decorative allegories.
This is a beautiful portrait depicting the Biblical tale of Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus in the manger, with the angels above bearing witness to his birth and an old man chronicling the events to paper.
Near the man we can see the head of a bull that is in his stall, a woman and three children that may range in age from four to ten years of age with the youngest child holding a white dove in its hands, as though offering it to the baby jesus.
On the ground besides the feet of Mary are two white eggs and a chicken with a rooster.
This is a retouched digital art old masters reproduction of a public domain image.
