Le Sommeil c1830 by French Painter Aimée Pagès-Brune (1803 - 1866); one of the most respected female French painters.

Le Sommeil was presented at the Salon of 1831 an depicts beautiful young lady sleeping in a bed covered with a white sheet and adorned with blue flowers, nude from the waist up, resting her head on a large white pillow.

She has her left hand resting on her head and her right arm on her hip on top of a white sheet and floral embroidered gold tone blanket that is covering the lower portion of her body.

Above and around her are large patterned embroidered red velvet bed curtains with tassels that complement her skin tone and the sheets and blanket on the bed.
