Description
Sainte Jeanne d'Arc c1909 by French Painter Paul Antoine De La Boulaye (1849 - 1926); specialized in creating peasant genre scenes, religious inspired artwork, still life imagery, portraits and depictions of exotic women.
This is another version of Sainte Jeanne d'Arc that Paul Boulaye did in 1909, which differs from the more tranquil meditative version; showing her with a distraught look on her face as she draws her sword from its scabbard.
She seems to be in a hall standing by a large pedestal with a large column on top; wearing a red uniform which is embossed with golden floral patterns on the sleeves and a matching red cap with a gray cloak draped over her left forearm.
She is looking over her right shoulder off into the distance as if danger is approaching her, as she tightly grabs the handle of her sword with her right hand as she lifts it out of its scabbard that she is tightly gripping with her left hand.
