The Standard Bearer (Floris Soop, 1604 - 1657) c1654 by Dutch Painter Rembrandt van Rijn (1606 - 1669); who was also a draughtsman and printmaker; is considered to be one of the worlds greatest visual artist in the history of art.
This is a portrait of an Ensign (a junior rank of a commissioned officer), which is denoted by the flag and flag pole he is holding in his left hand, the plume in his hat, and the tooled leather baldric or sword-belt; of an Amsterdam civic guard company.
It's believed that this is a portrait of Floris Soop a wealthy bachelor whose estate included 140 paintings.
This is a retouched digital art old masters reproduction of a public domain image.
