Description
Ali Pasha and Kira Vassiliki c1844 by German Painter Paul Emil Jacobs (1802 - 1866); known for his artistic nudes, portraiture and Orientalist themed painting.
This is one of two versions depicting a scene that shows Ali Pasha (1740 - 1822) an Ottoman Albanian ruler who served as Pasha (a title that is similar to a knighthood) of a large part of the Ottoman Empire's European territories, that were known as Western Rumelia.
Sitting by his side is Lady Vassiliki (1789 - 1834), who was an influential Greek woman brought up in the seraglio (harem in an Ottoman palace) of the Ottoman ruler Ali Pasha; whom he married in 1808.
This is a retouched digital art old masters reproduction of a public domain image.
