God Speed c1900 by British Painter Edmund Leighton (1852–1922), was a historical genre painter that specialized in Regency and Medieval subject matter.
In this overcast gloomy scene by Leighton is a lady of the court or noble women, in a white dress embossed with an intricate golden pattern standing on a landing of steps near the castle gate with marching troops in the background.
She is wrapping her red scarf with gold accents around the left arm of a knight, outfitted in chain mail armor who is riding a white horse; as he and the foot soldiers leave the castle to go do battle.
