Mrs Sarah Siddons (1755 - 1831) was the best known tragedienne (a women that performs tragic roles in the theater) of the 18th century; she was a Welsh born English actress that was consider by William Hazlitt tragedy personified. She was the elder sister of John Philip Kemble, Charles Kemble, Stephen Kemble, Ann Hatton, and Elizabeth Whitlock, and the aunt of Fanny Kemble.
