The Angel Taking Leave of Tobit and His Family c1649 by Dutch Painter Jan Victors (1619 - after 1676); a Golden Age Dutch Artist known for his Historical and Biblical paintings.

This painting is derived from the Book of Tobit among the Apocrypha of the Old Testament and pulls inspiration from a work done by his possible teacher, Rembrandt van Rijn's 1637 rendition on the same subject.

The painting depicts Tobit on his hands and knees with his hands clapsed praying along with his wife who is giving thanks in prayer as she stands in the doorway of their home; while his son Tobias, his sons wife Sarah and a boy watch as the Archangel Raphael takes flight dissipating the cloud of doom that hung over all their heads.
