The Company of Captain Banning Cocq (The Nightwatch) c1642 by Dutch Painter Gerrit Lundens (1622 - 1686), known for his genre scenes, vanitas paintings nad miniature portraits as well as for making copies after famous Dutch Masters.
This painting is a copy of the "The Night Watch" (which can also be purchased in this collection) by Dutch Painter Rembrandt van Rijn (1606 - 1669); also an accomplished draughtsman and printmaker, and in the history of art is considered to be one of the worlds greatest visual artist.
This painting shows what the original painting looked like before it was trimmed down to fit between two columns when it was moved from its original location.
