The Toilet of Venus c1746 by French Painter François Boucher (1703 - 1770); also known as a draftsman, engraver and decorator in the French Rococo style, was well known for his lavish mythological, allegorical and erotic motifs and was the court painter of Louis XV and a favorite of the Marquise de Pompadour.
This version of The Toilet of Venus shows Venus being taken care of by her hand maidens, with one handing her flowers from a gold platter, another gathering a red silk dress with gold accents, while another attaches a string of pearls to her head; and lastly a cherub holds a string of pearls in its hand while leaning on her leg.
