Description
Venus Consoling Love c1751, by French Painter François Boucher (1703–1770), and who was also an accomplished draughtsman and etcher. He worked in the Rococo Style and is known for his idyllic classical themes, pastoral scenes and decorative allegories.
In this beautiful painting by Boucher Cupid the son of the Goddess Venus and the God Mars is being partially embraced by Venus as she sits by a forest pond with two white doves at her feet; while Cupid seems to be trying to get away with a not to happy look on his face as two other cherubs look on.
